LIVESTRONG AT THE YMCA
Cancer is a life-changing disease that takes a tremendous physical and emotional toll on those affected. The Y and LIVESTRONG have joined together to create LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a research-based physical activity and well-being program designed to help adult cancer survivors reclaim their total health. Participants work with Y staff trained in supportive cancer care to safely achieve their goals such as building muscle mass and strength; increasing flexibility and endurance; and improving confidence and self-esteem. By focusing on the whole person and not the disease, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is helping people move beyond cancer in spirit, mind and body.
“Livestrong strengthened my body and spirit. The instructors took the time to learn what each participant needed and could do. Each person was given the time needed to get to where they wanted to be, even after the program ended. I have more strength in my body now than I did before chemotherapy, that’s pretty good. Livestrong also gave me the information and tools needed to live a healthier life. Which makes the program a total life changer, nutrition, exercise, and community. Knowing and speaking with others who are or have gone through the same things you have.”
New Livestrong session begins September 10, 2018
